ON HIATUS
for now. We'll see how it goes. My spring has been SO busy this year, I barely have time to get adequate sleep, let alone keep up a blog. Maybe once school's out, when I have some more free time, I'll start things back up. For now, enjoy spring, enjoy the weather, and get ready for summer!

Groundhog day
Happy February! Today is Groundhog Day, and I understand it's International Pancake Day as well. I celebrated yesterday with some pecan pancakes, and as a nice little surprise, I got an extra two hours of sleep because our school district called for a late start. Crazy Ohio weather. During the school day, my art history class took a field trip to the Columbus Museum of Art to work on a project. It involves making a podcast that will actually be available for musuem-goers to view/download--I'm pretty excited about that. 2008 is shaping up to be a great year so far, can you believe we're already a month in?
I already told you about how ready I am for spring, and I'd love to add to my warm-weather wardrobe by purchasing these cool gladiator sandals by Nine West. This trend has stuck around the past few years, and I think these are a perfect, affordable pair.

Just $80 at piperlime.com. But let me tell you about my most recent purchase--an iPod touch! Oh my god, it's so super awesome. I've been searching out all the local WiFi hotspots so I can check my email, PopSugar.com, and the weather on the go.
LOVE!!

I am absolutely in awe of this technology. This is like the device I've been dreaming of for years. I love the touch screen, the way it turns sideways, the video capability (I had a first generation Nano, before they added video), and everything else. And it is so fun to surf the Internet. The pages show up perfectly! Basically, I'm in love. For me this is the ultimate MP3 player. I bought the 8G version for $300, and my black leather case was about $25 at case-mate.com.
I also bought a new, white & lilac striped bikini at Target for $30. You have to love Target for their cheap but fantastic mix-and-match swimwear section!

Christmas wrap-up
I realized I never made a Christmas post, so Merry Belated Christmas! I got many lovely presents, and I am so thankful I have such a kind, thoughtful, generous, and loving family. I didn't get any "big" present (like an iPhone, perhaps) worth noting more than the others, but these are the highlights.
- gifts cards for A&F, Target, Old Navy, Starbucks, Caribou, Bath & Body Works, and iTunes
- Juicy Couture heart stud earrings
- gold, vintage-y bracelet from Anthropologie
- Vera Wang Princess perfume set
- dark wash jeans from The Limited
- pink J.Crew passport cover
- 2007 Holiday Celebration Barbie
- VS Pink pajamas
- LOTS of socks, the really soft & fuzzy kind
Money too, of course--a lot of which has already been spent, ha. The A&F gift cards are long gone as well! Below are some recent purchases.

Lately I've been very drawn to ethnic-like patterns and prints. I believe it's because warmer weather is impending (in a few months time, I suppose), but also because I will be going on a cruise for spring break. I can totally envision myself on the beach in Mexico with that black, embroidered top! And toting the pink bag around the ship to carry all my essentials. But I gotta have my basics (hence the dark wash A&F jeans--just what I need, right?--and the tank tops) and I absolutely COULD NOT pass up a $3 scarf (major clearance sale at Old Navy!). I AM Scarf Girl. And all the fashion aside, I also bought a Rachael Ray 30-Minute-Meal cookbook, because one of my New Year's Resolutions was to cook for my family more often.

Walkin' in a winter wonderland
I have mixed feelings towards winter. On one hand, I HATE the cold. I get chilly very easily so I'm always throwing on a sweatshirt to stay warm. But I love snow. It's oh so pretty and occasionally gets us out of school! Unless I have to actually DRIVE in the snow, or course, that's another story. When the roads are all icy, slushy, and nasty - yuck.
One thing I always like about this kind of year? The clothes. It's very tempting to go the frumpy, "Screw fashion, I'm cold" route, but there are loads of cute options that will keep you nice and toasty.
Juicy Couture, $348
Old Navy, $39
Victoria's Secret, $129

Victoria's Secret, $129I loooove peacoats, down puffer jackets, anything. Every girl should have a classic black peacoat in her closet, but remember there are lots of fun colors to liven up your look during these chilly months! Another place to look for jackets is Target - they have a great selection at the best prices.
One piece of winter weather garb I am NEVER without is a scarf. These can be found in a wide array of colors and styles almost anywhere. I recommend checking at Target, J.Crew, A&F, Nordstrom, Old Navy, GAP, H&M, and Banana Republic. Scarves can be pricey if you buy cashmere or handknit, but I actually got one of my favorite scarves for just $7 at Wet Seal. Or, like me, pick up some yarn and needles and knit your own! I've been getting lots of use out of my Gryffindor scarf lately (and the Slytherin one is coming along nicely too!).
Finally, you say, you still need a pair boots! To which I respond, UGGS. End of story! For me, they can't be beat. If you're worried about water/snow damage, pick up some rainboots for cheap at Target. Or, choose a pair of traditional Wellies or those rainboots I like from Burberry.
Make sure your fingers don't freeze by wearing gloves, and find some cute knit hats or earmuffs. It's totally possible to stay warm and still be stylish.
Christmas is only 10 days away - are you ready?
